Now you can repair broken/incomplete downloads when your downloads fail. Download Doctor lets you choose where to start your download from, so you don't have to download your file from the beginning again. Download Doctor works with Megaupload, Deposit Files, Z-Share, etc... Download Doctor also works with any type of file: video, music, compressed files like .rar, etc... You must have the Java installed on your computer to use Download Doctor! It's the same Java(JRE) people use to play games with. You might already have it installed. You can download it here. Follow the instillation instructions.

What you need to get started

- Your broken file.

- A starting position.

- A download link to the file on the web.

- Java is required to use this program. Get it here. Download this one if you don't already have it installed -> Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE)

Start repairing your file

Step 1

Get a new download link to your file on the web. Paste the link into Download doctor via the Paste menu.

Step 2

Enter a start position and input type KB, MB, Bytes, Percent.

Step 3

Open a copy of your broken file, so Download Doctor knows where the file to be fixed is. I recommend that you create a new folder and you paste a copy of all your broken downloads in it. Always use a copy of the original broken file! Never use the original broken file. That will ensure that you have a backup in case something goes wrong like your computer shutting down because of a storm.

Step 4

Click the Repair button.

Start Position

You can get the start position in several ways. If your broken download is still in your download manager just grab the completed value from it. You can also grab the percentage complete from your download manager. You can also enter your best guess as a percentage from the begining of the file, it's better to guess too close to the beginning of the file than the end. With certain file types .wmv, .mpeg, you can preview where the file has stopped downloading with programs like VLC. Then, you can check where the file has started downloading at once you run Download Doctor.
